Substitutes and priority
Each rule has a list of backups, called substitutes, in priority order.
Add substitutes
Open a rule and, under Regular orders, click Add a substitute. Search by product name, variant name or Shopify ID. Each substitute shows its stock, so you can see at a glance whether it can cover orders.
How many substitutes a rule can hold depends on your plan. See Plans and limits.
Set the order
Drag substitutes to reorder them. For each order, the app uses the first substitute that's in stock, top to bottom. If the first runs out, the next one takes over automatically.
Remove a substitute
Click the remove icon on the substitute. If it was the last one, the rule can't swap anything until you add another.
Keep them stocked
A backup that's also out of stock can't help. When every substitute on a rule runs out, the rule shows Needs attention: "Every substitute is also out of stock — orders can't be filled until one restocks or you add another." The app also turns off Continue selling for the variant until a substitute is back in stock.
