Quantity substitutions
Ship several units of a smaller size when the larger size sells out. For example, two 2.5 lb bags for one 5 lb bag, or two 250 ml bottles for one 500 ml bottle.
Available on the Growth and Scale plans.
Turn it on
- Open the rule.
- Under More options, turn on Quantity multipliers.
- On each substitute, set the units: "Each order uses [N] units of this substitute".
With multipliers off, the app ships one unit of the substitute for each unit ordered.
How it works
- The units are per unit ordered. If a customer orders 2 of the large size and the multiplier is 2, they get 4 of the small size.
- The app only uses a substitute that has enough stock for the full amount.
- Priority still applies: the first substitute that can cover the order is used.
Pricing
The customer pays the original price. Check that several small units still make sense for your margin before you turn the rule on. See How substitutions work.
Good matches
The units should add up to what was ordered, or round up slightly. Avoid swaps that ship less than the customer ordered.
